If you are an AirPods user, then Apple could soon let you track them. Often people lose their AirPods because of their size but Apple has immediate plans to make it easier to find them. The tech giant is planning to integrate the AirPods Pro and the AirPods Max both into its Find My Network feature, as per a report by AppleInsider.
The report is based upon the code strings found in the latest iOS 15 beta 2 release that hint at the integration of the gadgets. It says that for the feature to work with the devices, they should first be linked to the Apple ID of the user. If, after that, you lose your AirPods, then you will be able to view their location in a map view with the help of any nearby Find My Network device which would then send the data to you through the Find My app. After this, you can trigger sound alerts or enable the proximity alert to zero in on your missing headphones as you get close enough to the location. The tech is reportedly based on the secure Bluetooth beacons that can share the data about the location of some lost gadget to the iPhone, iPad, Mac and other Apple devices linked via the Find My Network.
“Exactly how the system differs from Apple’s current solution, which associates AirPods with an Apple ID to facilitate automatic setup on secondary devices via iCloud, is unknown, but the new structure is confirmed to enable Find My integration.”, added the report.
It also added that with the Find My Network integration, Activation Lock or other security options are not provided for the AirPods, which means the AirPods will keep sending location info to the network even if they are connected to some other device not linked with the Apple ID of the owner.
