ISL wants league for reserve, under-21 players | Football News – Times of India

PANAJI: Organisers of the Indian Super League (ISL) have suggested a new league to the clubs for their under-21 players with a provision to allow some above that age group.
In a meeting with CEOs of all clubs, Football Sports Development Ltd, the body that organises the league, said they are committed to the development of young players as “there have been a limited number of competitions and leagues since the start of the pandemic outside the professional game.”
The league has already made it mandatory for ISL clubs to sign at least four development players – those born on or after January 1, 2001 – with two of them as part of the match-day squad.
Most of these players will get limited time on the field, so the organisers have suggested another league to keep these players, and others who don’t get a chance, engaged.
