Microsoft Teams has now got a new protection from phishing messages through Microsoft Defender for Office 365. Businesses using Microsoft Defender for Office 365 can extend protections to Microsoft Teams users from malicious phishing attacks.
The Safe Links in Defender for Office 365 scans URLs at the time of click to ensure that users visit safe websites.
Microsoft Defender for Office 365 scans for phishing attempts, malware and other security threats on OneDrive, SharePoint, Office apps, and now Microsoft Teams.
Safe Links is an important feature in Defender for Office 365 since its introduction in 2015. At its core, “Safe Links provides time-of-click verification of URLs. This process entails scanning URLs for potentially malicious content and again evaluating them when they are clicked on by a user,” said Microsoft in an official blog post.
Safe Links for Microsoft Teams will be available to users who are on both Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
Meanwhile, Microsoft Teams recently introduced a range of ‘personal features’, as it wants you to use Teams for video chatting with friends and family too. Microsoft Teams video call links can be shared with anyone, even if they don’t use Teams. The link works across all devices. You can invite up to 300 people on a single video.
Note that usually you can host an one-to-one call and speak up to 24 hours for free. For a group call (more than two people), you can meet with up to 100 participants and call up to 60 minutes for free. However, due to the pandemic, Microsoft has waived these limits so that you can meet with up to 300 participants and speak up to 24 hours for free until further specified.
