Telecom operator Vi (Vodafone Idea) has announced that it has become the first telecom company to provide service in Parapatta Village, Kozhikode, Kerala.
The company, in a press statement, said that around 150 students staying in Parapatta, Kodenchery Gram Panchayat didn’t have access to mobile data connectivity causing a hindrance to online classes.
S. Murali, cluster business head, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Vodafone Idea Limited, said, “As Kerala’s largest and fastest 4G telecom service provider serving over 1.6 crore customers across the length and breadth of the state, Vi is committed to provide the finest voice and data services to enable our customers to get more, do more and stay ahead in life. It is a matter of pride for Vi to be an enabler in the academic pursuit of these young students from Parapetta. I would like to thank the Kozhikode district authorities for their support in fast tracking the necessary processes for commissioning the telecom tower within the shortest time period.”
Earlier this month, Vi had announced that it has completed the process of migration of the 3G spectrum to 4G in the majority of its sites in Hyderabad and Warangal.
In a statement, the company said that this is part of a bigger exercise undertaken by the company to migrate its 3G spectrum to 4G across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana telecom circle, of which it has already completed the exercise in Vizag district, Vijayawada, Guntur and Kakinada towns.
Additionally, Vi has also deployed 5Mhz of 2100 MHz band in these cities, with an aim to offer higher download and upload speeds apart from better indoor coverage.
